The basement is where the cellar belongs

Basements are naturally the coolest, most stable space in the house, which makes them the right home for wine. A proper cellar builds on that advantage with insulation, vapor control, and a cooling unit sized to the room, so your collection stores at cellar temperature year round.

We build both traditional enclosed cellars and modern glass-front wine rooms that turn the collection into a design feature visible from the bar or lounge. Racking is planned around what you collect, from everyday cases to large-format bottles.

A feature wall that outclasses any big-box rack

A glass wine room off the bar changes the whole feel of a finished basement. Backlit bottles, a stone accent wall, and a tasting counter make the space feel deliberate. Nobody in this market builds these as part of a full basement project, which is exactly why we do.

FAQ

Common Questions

Does a wine cellar need its own cooling system?

For serious storage, yes. Illinois basements are cool but not stable enough for long-term aging. A dedicated cellar cooling unit holds 55 to 58 degrees with proper humidity. For display-focused wine rooms holding bottles you will drink within a couple of years, passive cooling can be enough.

How many bottles can a basement wine room hold?

A 6 by 8 foot cellar comfortably racks 500 to 800 bottles depending on layout. Glass display walls trade some capacity for looks. We plan racking around your actual collection and how you want it to grow.

Can a wine cellar be added to an existing finished basement?

Yes. A corner or unused storage room can usually be converted, as long as we can run power for cooling and properly insulate the enclosure.
