For a lot of Shorewood families along the Route 59 corridor, the day starts early and ends late, and a recovery suite downstairs earns its keep fast. A sauna session after a commute, a cold plunge after a morning workout, a steam shower on a sore weekend. The newer, dry, deep basements common in Shorewood are well suited to all three.
ONIT builds cedar saunas, plunge tubs with dedicated circuits and drainage, and vapor-sealed steam showers, all backed by engineered ventilation designed for below-grade rooms. Free in-home design consultations, itemized quotes, permits handled, and financing available on larger projects.
It starts with a free in-home design consultation. We measure your basement, check moisture and mechanicals, and talk through how you want the space to live. You get a design and an itemized quote, we handle permits and inspections, and one team runs the build from the first cut to the final walkthrough. Most projects take 6 to 12 weeks of construction.
Structurally, usually yes. Shorewood's newer construction gives us dry, deep basements that are excellent starting points. What still has to be added is the infrastructure: a dedicated circuit for the cold plunge, sauna wiring, a drainage path for the wet zones, and mechanical ventilation sized for steam and humidity. We scope all of that in the free design consultation.
Engineered ventilation and vapor control, designed in from the start. The steam enclosure is sealed as its own vapor envelope, humid air is actively exhausted rather than left to drift, and finishes near the wet zone are chosen to handle moisture. Below grade, air does not move on its own, so we make it move mechanically.
Yes, and we recommend planning both phases up front even if you build one. Running the plunge circuit, drainage, and ventilation rough-ins during phase one is far cheaper than opening finished walls later. Your itemized quote can be split by phase so you know exactly what each stage costs before committing.
Tell us about your basement and we will follow up within one business day to set up an in-home visit.
